Pakistan’s women’s netball team suffered a 66-48 defeat at the hands of Thailand in their second outing at the Asian Netball Championships 2026 Plate Division in Hong Kong on Monday.

Pakistan, who made an impressive start to their campaign with a convincing victory over Japan, were unable to maintain the same momentum against a well-organised Thailand side.

Thailand remained in control for much of the contest, combining accurate shooting, disciplined passing and strong defensive play to keep Pakistan under pressure. The Pakistani players fought hard and produced several promising passages of play, but Thailand’s consistency in crucial moments proved decisive.

The 18-point defeat leaves Pakistan with plenty to work on ahead of their next fixture, particularly in maintaining possession and converting scoring opportunities.

Earlier, Pakistan had opened their Plate Division campaign with an emphatic 58-34 victory over Japan. The comprehensive win provided an early boost and showcased the team’s attacking quality and ability to control the tempo of the game.

However, the defeat against Thailand highlighted the need for greater consistency as Pakistan look to finish their campaign strongly.

Pakistan will now face South Korea on Tuesday, with the match scheduled to begin at 8am Pakistan Standard Time. The fixture presents the national side with an immediate opportunity to bounce back and regain winning momentum.

The team will be hoping to reproduce the attacking efficiency and defensive discipline that helped them overcome Japan.

The Asian Netball Championships 2026 are being held in Hong Kong from August 8-15, featuring leading teams from across the region. Pakistan will now look to put the Thailand defeat behind them and make a strong response against South Korea.
