Supreme Court Registrar Sohail Leghari has said that all cases before the apex court are now scheduled for hearing under the Supreme Court’s Case Fixation Policy 2026, adding that no case is fixed on the verbal instructions of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.

Briefing reporters on the court’s case management system, the registrar said cases are listed either under the fixation policy or through the prescribed early hearing procedure.

He said that when Chief Justice Yahya Afridi assumed office, there was no categorisation of pending cases, making case management a significant challenge.

Leghari said the Supreme Court undertook the scanning and digitisation of all case files, while simultaneously categorising cases to improve judicial administration. He added that appeals pending before the Supreme Court often delay trial proceedings in lower courts.

According to the registrar, the categorisation of all pending cases was completed by Dec 2025. Following the digitisation and categorisation process, the Supreme Court introduced its Case Fixation Policy in April 2026.
