RAWALPINDI:

The fact-finding inquiry into a financial scandal involving the transfer of Rs1.94 billion from the Rawalpindi Development Authority’s official bank account through Call Deposit Receipts (CDR) remains incomplete even after 11 months.

According to details, the high-level committee formed by the Punjab chief secretary on May 29, 2025, held its latest meetings on April 4 and 5 in Lahore, where additional records were obtained from RDA.

The committee comprises Punjab Board of Revenue Member Taxes Mudassir Waheed Malik as convener, Muazzam Iqbal Sapra, MD Punjab Government Servants Housing Foundation, and Madiha Tahir Shah, Additional Secretary A&E.

Since its first meeting on June 11, 2025, the committee has recorded statements and conducted cross-examinations of serving and retired RDA officials, including Director General Kinza Murtaza. However, it has yet to present its final report.

Officials said further records may still be required, but no timeline has been given for completion of the inquiry. The committee is tasked with determining the causes of the scandal and identifying those responsible.
