Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday departed Madinah for Pakistan after completing his visit to Saudi Arabia.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Madinah Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud saw off the prime minister and the Pakistani delegation at Madinah Airport.

The statement said that PM Shehbaz visited Masjid-e-Nabawi, where he offered prayers alongside the delegation, praying for the progress and prosperity of the country and nation.

“He also visited the Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) in Masjid-e-Nabawi, where he was blessed with the privilege of a special visitation,” the PMO said.

The premier was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

A day earlier, the premier, along with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, performed Umrah and Makkah during a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

While in the holy city, PM Shehbaz signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement alongside Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, reaffirming their commitment to collective security, defence cooperation and regional stability.

The agreement establishes a framework for collective deterrence against acts of aggression and stipulates that an armed attack against any one of the three signatory states will be regarded as an attack against all three.
