A multinational beauty and cosmetics company has successfully localised Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), a key raw material used in shampoo manufacturing, in a move expected to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial and manufacturing sector.

L’Oréal Pakistan has onboarded Tufail Chemical Industries Ltd as a qualified local supplier after completion of a rigorous global qualification process, significantly reducing reliance on imported raw materials while maintaining international quality standards, according to a statement.

Industry experts view the development as an important step towards enhancing local manufacturing capability and improving supply chain resilience.

Speaking on the occasion, the company’s Executive General Manager Rehan Saeed said the initiative reflected confidence in Pakistani industry and technical expertise.

“This achievement demonstrates our unwavering trust in Pakistani industry and its technical capability,” he said, adding that localisation would strengthen supply chain agility while contributing to the development of Pakistan’s manufacturing ecosystem.

According to the company, the initiative is aligned with its sustainability roadmap and will help reduce logistics-related carbon emissions by shortening transportation distances between raw material production and manufacturing facilities.

Officials said the successful qualification of a Pakistani supplier to meet global standards could open doors for further localisation of raw materials in the future, supporting long-term industrial growth and sustainability in the country.
