PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s House to review ongoing reforms in the education sector and deliberate on proposed initiatives aimed at transforming the province’s learning landscape.

The meeting assessed progress on current reforms and held detailed discussions on new measures to enhance access, quality and innovation in education. CM Afridi directed the release of Rs500 million for the establishment of an Inter-Disciplinary Research Centre in the province. He also endorsed the proposal to set up community schools in far-flung areas to accelerate the literacy rate.

Participants agreed to expand the double-shift school programme and introduce IT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses across educational institutions. The Chief Minister instructed officials to convene a detailed follow-up meeting soon to finalise the future course of action and directed the formation of a coordination committee comprising relevant authorities to ensure timely implementation of the agreed proposals.

Addressing the participants, CM Afridi said the provincial government has been giving special attention to education and health sectors for the past five to six months, with positive results beginning to emerge. “Health and education are directly linked to the people,” he remarked, adding that the government is investing in human capital in line with the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan.
