Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has become the fifth bowler from the country to top the ICC men’s T20I bowling rankings, replacing Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan at the summit, the ICC said on Wednesday.
Abrar moved one rating point ahead of Rashid, who finished with 736 points after a six-month stint at No. 1.
The Pakistan spinner joins Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim and Shahid Afridi as Pakistani bowlers who have topped the T20I rankings.
England captain Harry Brook climbed five places to a career-best fourth among T20I batters after a successful home series against Sri Lanka.
Brook scored an unbeaten 114 in the opening match in Southampton and accumulated 170 runs as England completed a 3-0 series sweep. He was named Player of the Series.
Brook, who is the top-ranked Test batter, also climbed three places to 12th in the ODI batting rankings and has a chance to break into the top 10 in all three formats.
His England team-mate Jos Buttler moved up two places to fifth after scoring 172 runs in the Sri Lanka series.
India captain Shreyas Iyer climbed seven places to joint-22nd, while England’s Tom Banton jumped 30 places to 60th in the T20I batting rankings.
Among bowlers, England’s Jamie Overton made the biggest gain, rising 47 places to a career-best sixth after taking five wickets in the series against Sri Lanka.
England’s Liam Dawson moved up 12 places to 11th, while India’s Axar Patel rose 12 places to 15th and Ravi Bishnoi five places to 35th. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai climbed three places to 49th.
England all-rounder Will Jacks moved to 58th among T20I bowlers and third in the all-rounders’ rankings.
In the ODI rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza climbed five places to 24th after scores of 45 and an unbeaten 81 in the final two matches of the three-game series against Australia.
Australia fast bowler Nathan Ellis moved three places to a career-best 17th after taking nine wickets in the series, while Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando climbed from 39th to 30th after figures of three for 53 against England.
