RUSTAM:

In nothing short of a miracle, a miner missing for 17 days after a landslide in Nangabad has been recovered alive from beneath the debris, bringing a dramatic end to a prolonged rescue operation.

The incident occurred on March 31 in the Palodheri Nangabad Darang area, where a mining landslide left a worker trapped under rubble.

Rescue 1122, along with the local administration and residents, had been engaged in a relentless search operation since the incident, continuing efforts day and night despite mounting challenges.

After 17 days of sustained excavation and coordinated rescue work, the missing labourer was finally pulled out alive and immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Hospital authorities confirmed that the survivor was identified by his family as Abdul Wahab, who had been missing since the day of the landslide.

His safe recovery sparked scenes of relief and celebration among relatives and local residents, many of whom hailed the rescue as a divine miracle and offered prayers of gratitude.

Meanwhile, MPA Tufail Anjum visited the hospital on the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to inquire after the survivor’s condition.

During the visit, he instructed hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical care to Abdul Wahab and met the rescued worker, praying for his speedy recovery.

Local political and social circles in Tehsil Rustam praised the tireless efforts of Rescue 1122, the Darang administration, government departments, and volunteer organisations involved in the operation.

They paid tribute to the teams for sustaining a 17-day rescue effort and successfully recovering the missing worker alive.
