ISLAMABAD:

Teachers and non-teaching staff of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) have expressed relief over the appointment of a regular Director General after a long gap of around three years, calling it a positive and problem-solving development expected to address long-pending administrative and service-related issues.

Following the recommendation of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), the Prime Minister appointed Javed Iqbal Mirza as DG (BS-21) FDE, who has assumed charge on Friday, said a press release.

Teachers termed the end of the prolonged administrative vacuum as a significant relief and hoped that the long stagnation in the organisation would now come to an end.

Professor Akram Khan Khosa president Federal Government College Teachers Association said that with the arrival of regular leadership, it is expected that long-awaited matters such as grant of higher time scale cases will finally be processed.

The FDE, which oversees more than 430 schools and colleges in Islamabad, had been facing delays in decision-making since the post fell vacant in July 2023, creating uncertainty among employees.
