The Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Sunday criticised the United States behaviour as aggressive, saying talks hinged on Washington’s sincerity to resolve the issue.

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Moghadam said that Tehran had presented a comprehensive plan aimed at ending US-Israeli aggression. He also “underlined that progress hinged on the US’s sincerity and willingness to resolve issues through genuine diplomatic efforts.”

According to the news agency, Moghadam confirmed that Iran had shared its latest proposal with Pakistan, which was then conveyed to the US. Noting Pakistan’s role in the mediation process, the ambassador “expressed appreciation for its efforts in facilitating dialogue,” IRNA said.

Further, Moghadam said the mediation process “remains firm.” However, according to IRNA, he criticised US behaviour, terming it unpredictable and aggressive.

Economically, the ambassador noted that “Pakistan aims to boost trade with the Caucasus and Central Asian countries, for which the Iranian route serves as an ideal option.” He added that border crossings between the two countries play a vital role in enhancing bilateral trade and transit.

The envoy’s remarks come as US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he had been told about the concept of a deal with Iran but was waiting for the exact wording. He also warned that there was still the possibility of the US restarting its strikes on Iran if it “misbehaves.”

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said that Trump must choose between an “impossible” war or a “bad deal” with the Islamic Republic.

The intelligence department of the IRGC said Tehran sent the US military a deadline to end its blockade of Iranian ports. It added that Europe, China and Russia are adopting a more critical tone toward Washington.

“There is only one way to read this: Trump must choose between ‘an impossible military operation or a bad deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran.” It added, “The room for US decision-making has narrowed.”

The US and Israel launched strikes against Iran on February 28, triggering retaliation from Tehran against Israel, as well as US allies in the Gulf, along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Since April 13, the US has enforced a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.

A two-week ceasefire was announced on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, followed by direct talks in Islamabad on April 11, but no agreement was reached on a lasting truce. Trump later extended the ceasefire without setting a new deadline, following a request from Pakistan.
