Hazara Region lifted the cricket trophy after a thrilling final at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minority Sports Festival, defeating South Region, who finished as runners-up.
The festival, organised by the Directorate General of Sports K-P, featured a range of sporting and recreational events aimed at fostering inclusion and harmony among minority communities.
In football, South Region claimed the championship title by defeating Malakand Region in the final. In the tug-of-war competition, Minority Eleven overpowered the Sports Department team to secure victory.
Elsewhere, Wazirzada topped the Musical Chair event, while Senior Shoban and Junior Gerik won the senior and junior categories of the food competition respectively.
Director General Sports K-P Tashfeen Haider distributed trophies and prizes among the winning teams and athletes. Former MPA and President of Insaf Minority Wing Wazirzada, along with former MPA and Secretary of Insaf Minority Wing Ravi Kumar, attended the ceremony as special guests.
Other notable attendees included Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Deputy Director Sports Kashif Farhan, Assistant Director Sports Ashfaq Ahmad, Senior Vice President Waqas Khokhar, Director Establishment Naimatullah Marwat, Faisal Javed, Saeed Akhtar, Irshad Khan, and Adnan Joseph.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, DG Sports Tashfeen Haider said the provincial government is committed to providing equal sporting opportunities to minority athletes across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He described the Minority Sports Festival as a significant initiative to promote inclusion, social harmony, and grassroots talent.
He added that the event was held under the directives of Chief Minister and Adviser for Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, and assured that such festivals would continue in the future.
