Hasnain Nadeem hits 121 while Khalid Usman and Shahnawaz Dahani deliver five-wicket-plus hauls on day two

Hasnain Nadeem scores century, while Khalid Usman and Shahnawaz Dahani produced impressive bowling performances on the second day of the fifth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I played across four venues on Wednesday.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Ghani resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 67 for seven against PTV and were dismissed for 102. Test fast bowler Haris Rauf took four wickets, while Israr Hussain and Kashif Ali picked up three wickets apiece.

In turn, PTV were led by Taimur’s 97, while Yasir Khan contributed 71. Taimur’s innings included eight fours and five sixes. Mohammad Ammar coming in to bat at number five remained unbeaten on 80 as PTV strengthened their position to reach 324 for four at the close of play. 

Right-arm fast bowler Khurram Shahzad took two wickets for Ghani.

At the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar, the match between Khan Research Laboratories and State Bank of Pakistan got underway after no play was possible on the opening day due to rain. SBP won the toss and elected to field first.

Mohammad Abbas and Shahid Aziz took three wickets each, while Sirajuddin picked up two as KRL lost eight wickets during the day and were 127 for eight at stumps. Saqib Khan was KRL’s leading run-getter with 35.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, MIT Solutions resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 186 for eight. Hasnain Nadeem unbeaten on 87 overnight went on to score 121 before MIT Solutions were bowled out for 223.

Opening batter Hasnain’s innings included 18 fours and one six.

In turn, OGDCL’s innings were led by Rohail Nazir, who scored a 110-ball 52, hitting seven fours. Khalid Usman grabbed six wickets as MIT Solutions dismissed OGDCL for 193 in 63.4 overs.

After securing a 30-run first-innings lead, MIT Solutions lost one wicket in their second innings and were 29 for one at stumps.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Kingsmen Academy resumed at the overnight score of 31 for one and were bowled out for 217. Mohammad Shayan top-scored with 66, while right-arm fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani grabbed five wickets and Shehzad Gul bagged four.

In turn, SNGPL made a solid start with Test opening batter Azan Awais unbeaten on 53 and former Test captain Shan Masood not out on 45 at stumps. The pair added 81 runs for the third wicket as SNGPL reached 140 for two in 35 overs when stumps were drawn.
