Aiman announces retirement from international cricket

Pakistan fast bowler Aiman Anwar has annnounced retirement from international cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday.

Aiman, 29, represented Pakistan in eight one-day internationals and 37 Twenty20 internationals between July 2016 and February 2023, taking four ODI wickets and 29 in T20Is.

She made her international debut in a T20 match against England in Southampton in 2016 before earning her first ODI cap against Bangladesh in Colombo the following year.

Aiman was part of Pakistan’s squads at the 2018, 2020 and 2022-23 Women’s T20 World Cups and also featured at the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.

She first came to prominence with Karachi Uner-19 at the PCB National Under-19 Women’s Championship in January 2010.

Since stepping away from playing, Aiman has worked as a broadcaster. She also began a new career in match officiating this week, making her debut as a match referee in the National Women’s Uner-19 Tournament after completing her induction course in January.

Her retirement brings an end to a Pakistan career spanning seven years at international level.
