At least eight people, including women, were injured when a quadcopter drone allegedly exploded in the Kinger Jan Bahadur area of Bannu on Friday night.

According to police, the drone reportedly entered the area from an unknown direction and fell near a residential neighbourhood. Moments after fall, it exploded with a loud blast, injuring multiple people in the vicinity. The intensity of the explosion spread panic across the area.

Residents and authorities rushed to the scene soon after the incident, providing initial first aid to the injured before shifting them to Bannu District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.

The injured were identified as Raziullah son of Abdullah Shah, Nawab Ali son of Mir Abbas, Amshid son of Nawab Ali, Muhammad son of Amshid, Faseela wife of Khateeb, Neelam, Mukhtar Nisa daughter of Khateeb, and Sabeela daughter of Mir Abdullah Shah.

Security sources said investigations have been launched from multiple angles to determine the nature of the blast, identify the drone, and ascertain the motives behind the alleged attack. Authorities are examining whether the device was operated remotely and how it entered the area before crashing.

Meanwhile, officials at Bannu District Headquarters Hospital confirmed that all injured individuals are receiving medical treatment. Some of the victims were reported to be in critical condition, raising concerns about the severity of the blast.
