At least 40 people-including women, children, elderly citizens-were injured during April after being by stray bullets

KARACHI:

The unchecked use of firearms in the city continues to endanger citizens’ lives, with people feeling unsafe both on the streets and even inside their homes due to bullets fired from unknown directions.

According to a report, at least 40 people-including women, children, and elderly citizens-were injured during the month of April 2026 in different areas of the metropolis after being struck by stray bullets. The alarming number of incidents highlights not only the widespread availability of weapons but also their indiscriminate and illegal use, raising serious questions about law enforcement performance.

Police data indicates that these incidents occurred across multiple localities, including Lyari, Orangi Town, New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Korangi, Nazimabad, Baldia Town, and others. Victims ranged from as young as 12 years old to elderly people in their 70s, many of whom were hit while at home, on roads, or in public places.
