Health facilities across Rawalpindi, district of Punjab, Pakistan, have screened 4,339 patients, registering 4,010 suspected cases and nine confirmed dengue fever cases during the ongoing year, with zero disease-related fatalities reported, according to official surveillance data released by the District Health Authority on Saturday.

The daily epidemiology report noted that currently one suspected patient remains under hospital care, while zero confirmed cases are hospitalized.

To reduce vector breeding, 1,400 specialized surveillance units comprising 985 indoor and 415 outdoor teams have inspected over 4.88 million residential properties and nearly 1.69 million outdoor locations across the district.

Field inspections identified larvae at 157,530 homes and 22,767 outdoor points, resulting in the chemical and physical destruction of 180,297 breeding sites.

Authorities reported the highest concentration of positive vector samples in Rawalpindi Cantonment areas, specifically.

Enforcing anti-dengue SOPs, authorities registered 2,543 FIRs, sealed 652 non-compliant commercial and residential premises, issued 2,119 challans and imposed fines totaling Rs 2,568,000.0 during the year to date.

Health officials confirmed that vector surveillance and active inspections will continue across 17,859 registered regional hotspots to mitigate seasonal viral transmission.
