Following the tragic fire incident at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad, the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi has taken precautionary measures to avert any untoward incident.
As per details, an 11-member Fire and Safety Committee has been formed by Jinnah Hospital Karachi to strengthen its emergency preparedness.
The committee has been formed on the directives of the Jinnah Hospital director and will remain operational around the clock to respond promptly to any emergency or unforeseen situation within the hospital.
Joint Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital, Dr Salman, said the formal notification establishing the committee would be issued today.
The committee will be headed by the hospital’s assistant director.
Employees residing within the hospital premises have been given priority for inclusion in the committee to ensure an immediate response during emergencies.

According to the administration, the committee will remain active on a permanent basis and will be responsible for coordinating an immediate response to fire incidents and other emergency situations.
The move comes after a devastating fire broke out in the nursery of PIMS Hospital on August 26, resulting in the deaths of 14 newborn babies. A separate committee has also been constituted to investigate the incident.
