Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Tuesday expressed grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Palestine, particularly the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

During a telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed intensified air strikes, continued ground operations and escalating settler violence targeting Palestinians, according to the Foreign Office.

Both sides strongly condemned repeated incursions by Israeli settlers and far-right groups into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, as well as restrictions placed on Palestinian worshippers.

They stressed that such actions violated the sanctity of the holy site, heightened tensions and undermined prospects for regional peace.

The two foreign ministers also discussed Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to assess the evolving situation and coordinate diplomatic efforts and responses.

Safadi appreciated Pakistan’s role and efforts towards promoting regional peace and stability, expressing hope for positive outcomes from ongoing diplomatic initiatives.

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unwavering support” for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to a just, lasting and comprehensive peace through the implementation of the two-state solution.

He called for the establishment of an independent, contiguous and viable Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
