Political leaders mark Eidul Azha with messages of unity, sacrifice and compassion

Ministers urge public to include underprivileged segments of society in Eid celebrations, appeal to ensure cleanliness

Political and government leaders across Pakistan on Wednesday extended Eidul Azha greetings to the nation and the Muslim Ummah, using the occasion to highlight themes of sacrifice, unity, public service, and support for the underprivileged, while offering prayers for national stability, security, and prosperity.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi extended Eidul Azha greetings to the Muslim Ummah, describing the occasion as a message of “sacrifice, love and obedience to God.”

In a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, Naqvi said Eidul Azha carries “a great message of sacrifice, love and obedience to Allah,” adding that Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS) “set a supreme example of loyalty and submission for the sake of Allah’s pleasure.”

He prayed that “Allah Almighty continues to bless Pakistan with peace, stability, unity and development,” and expressed hope that the occasion would serve as a message of “peace, progress, prosperity and unity for Pakistan and the entire Muslim Ummah.”

Naqvi also urged citizens to support vulnerable segments of society, saying that “standing with the weak and deserving sections of society is also a great act of worship,” and appealed to people to include the poor and needy in their celebrations, stating that “this is the true spirit of Eid.”

Paying tribute to security personnel, the minister noted that “the protectors of the nation are still spending Eid away from their loved ones to safeguard the country,” and that “the nation salutes all of them.”

He further emphasised that “sacrificing one’s desires and ego for the sake of Allah is the true message of Eid,” and paid tribute to the martyrs of the country. 

Describing fallen soldiers as national heroes, he said those who “laid down their lives for the country are the true heroes of the nation, whose sacrifices cannot be measured by any scale.”

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi

K-P CM Sohail Afridi offered Eidul Azha prayers at Bagh Naran, Hayatabad in Peshawar. After the prayers, he offered special supplications for “the country’s security, peace, development and prosperity” and prayed for unity and brotherhood within the Muslim Ummah, as well as the elimination of terrorism and lasting peace in the country.

Extending Eid greetings, he said Eidul Azha teaches the values of “sacrifice, selflessness, love and service to humanity.” He urged affluent individuals to include deserving and underprivileged people in Eid celebrations and appealed for cleanliness after animal sacrifice and cooperation with sanitation institutions.

He added: “I share the joys of Eid with the public and pray that Allah Almighty grants Pakistan peace and stability.”

K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi

K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi offered Eidul Azha prayers in his native village of Kukar in Dera Ismail Khan at Jamia Masjid Muhammadiya, accompanied by PPP parliamentary leader in the K-P Assembly Ahmad Kundi. After prayers, he mingled with worshippers and exchanged Eid greetings.

Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s development and stability, as well as lasting peace in K-P.

In his message on X, he said, “On the blessed occasion of Eid, I extend my sincere greetings to the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan. May this day of celebration strengthen the bonds of unity among us, bring peace to our communities, and renew hope for a more prosperous and compassionate future.”

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended Eidul Azha greetings and paid tribute to border security personnel, sanitation staff, and officials working during Eid. She also expressed solidarity with the families of martyrs.

She said Eidul Azha teaches “the lesson of sacrifice and selflessness,” urging citizens to share their happiness with underprivileged segments of society. She also paid tribute to those who made sacrifices, including innocent students killed in Israeli aggression.

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan extended Eid greetings, saying Eidul Azha teaches “obedience to Allah, sacrifice, and selflessness,” adding that true success lies in “surrendering everything in the path of faith.”

He stressed that Eid happiness is complete only when the underprivileged are included. He also paid tribute to martyrs and prayed for Pakistan’s peace, unity, and development.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan extended Eidul Azha greetings to the nation and the Muslim world.

He said Eid commemorates the “great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS),” and reflects devotion, sacrifice, and obedience to Allah Almighty. He stressed inclusion of the underprivileged, national unity, tolerance, and solidarity.

He paid tribute to martyrs, the Pakistan Armed Forces, and urged civic responsibility, cleanliness, and discipline during Eid. He also reaffirmed solidarity with Palestinians and Kashmiris.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon

Speaking to media in Tandojam, Sharjeel Inam Memon extended Eidul Azha greetings to Hajj pilgrims and the wider Muslim world, saying the occasion reflects the spirit of sacrifice, devotion and obedience to Allah Almighty.

He said the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) teaches that “for the pleasure of Allah, one must be ready to sacrifice everything dear to them.”

He urged unity on Eid, saying people should set aside differences and celebrate the occasion with “mutual love and harmony.” He also called for strengthening brotherhood and tolerance in society. He added that “human life is the most valuable and the elimination of hatred is the need of the hour.”

Sindh Senior Minister Nasir Hussain Shah

Sindh Senior Minister Nasir Hussain Shah extended Eidul Azha greetings and congratulated Hajj pilgrims.

He said Eid conveys the message of “sacrifice, selflessness and brotherhood,” and called for unity, service, and mutual harmony. He urged cleanliness and civic responsibility during Eid and said the Sindh government is taking measures for public facilitation.

He added that including the poor in Eid celebrations is a religious and social duty, praying for peace and prosperity for Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also extended Eid greetings to Pakistan and the Muslim world. He said Eidul Azha commemorates the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS), and teaches Muslims to offer all forms of sacrifice for the sake of Allah.

He called for unity among Muslims amid global challenges and paid tribute to the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine, particularly Gaza.

He urged the wealthy to include the poor, orphans, labourers, and deserving families in Eid celebrations, and prayed for Pakistan’s transformation into a welfare state.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Asad Qaiser

Asad Qaiser extended Eid greetings, highlighting that Eidul Azha teaches sacrifice and care for the poor, orphans, and needy.

He said the philosophy of sacrifice includes supporting the underprivileged and sharing their suffering. He also referred to party leader Imran Khan, noting his imprisonment and urging commitment to constitutional supremacy and continued struggle for national development and prosperity.
