Fatima’s 49-ball hundred inspires 72-run victory as Conquerors edge Stars in Faisalabad
Eyman Fatima struck a blistering century to guide Invincibles to a 72-run victory over Challengers while Conquerors defeated Stars by 16 runs on the opening day of the National Women’s T20 Tournament in Faisalabad on Saturday.
At Bohranwali Ground, Eyman smashed 100 off 49 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes, to help Invincibles post 175-4 in their 20 overs. Sidra Amin provided valuable support with an unbeaten 48.
Umm-e-Hani and Rabia Rani took two wickets apiece for Challengers, conceding 19 and 26 runs respectively.
Challengers struggled in reply and were bowled out for 103 in 17 overs. Ayesha Zafar top-scored with 27, but leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah claimed three wickets for 24 runs to lead Invincibles’ bowling attack and secure a comprehensive victory.
Eyman was named player of the match for her match-winning innings.
In the other match at Jawad Club, Conquerors defended a modest total of 120-9 to beat Stars by 16 runs.
Gull Rukh top-scored with 42 to help Conquerors reach 120, while Samina Aftab led Stars’ bowling effort with figures of two for four. Momina Riasat and Diana Baig also claimed two wickets each.
Stars were dismissed for 104 in 19.3 overs while chasing 121. Minahil led their batting with 35, but Conquerors maintained control of the chase through disciplined bowling.
Humna Bilal and Neha Shermeen took two wickets each to seal the victory for Conquerors, with Gull Rukh named player of the match for her contribution with the bat.
The tournament continues as the participating sides look to build momentum in the competition.
