Pakistan made an aggressive start and took control through goals from Fayyaz, Nadeem Khan and Abdul Sami.
Fayyaz struck in the second and 51st minute, while Nadeem converted a penalty corner in the 18th minute. Sami added a field goal in the 35th minute to seal a convincing win.
China responded through short corner specialist Wang Yubo in the 26th minute before Ao Dongzi hit a field goal in the 54th minute to reduce the deficit. However, Pakistan played with intent and did not allow the hosts to press them.
