Project was completed through cooperation between Pakistan Railways and the Government of Balochistan


QUETTA:

The Sariab-Kuchlak Railway Project in Balochistan has been completed at a cost of Rs3 billion within 120 days, marking a significant development in improving railway connectivity and passenger facilities in the province.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, in a post on X, said a new chapter in railway travel in Balochistan was about to begin.

The project was completed through cooperation between Pakistan Railways and the Government of Balochistan.

Under the project, 32 kilometres of railway track between Sariab and Kuchlak were upgraded and rehabilitated. Necessary work was also carried out to strengthen and protect the railway track embankments.

The construction, installation and commissioning of new turntables at Sariab and Kuchlak railway stations have also been completed.

Sariab Railway Station has been upgraded with improved passenger facilities, while Kuchlak Railway Station has also been equipped with modern facilities.

The project also included the upgradation of Sheikh Mandah Railway Station, while upgradation and construction work at Beleli Railway Station has been completed.

G.O.R Halt Railway Station was reconstructed, along with solarisation and electrical works. New furniture and benches were also installed for passengers.

The project also included the upgradation of Quetta Railway Station, while construction and finishing works were carried out at Lori Kraz Halt Railway Station.

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said several important measures had been completed to restore and improve railway infrastructure in Balochistan.

He said the Jinnah Peoples Train would soon operate on the newly upgraded route, providing better passenger facilities and stronger railway connectivity to the people of Balochistan.

The minister said the restoration of railway services in Balochistan reflected Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of stronger connectivity, improved public facilities and inclusive development.

He said providing better, easier and modern travel facilities to the people of Balochistan was a priority, adding that Pakistan Railways would continue its efforts to restore and improve the railway system in the province.
