United Arab Emirates batter Asif Khan has accepted a 15-month ban after testing positive for a prohibited substance, the International Cricket Council said Thursday.

The 36-year-old tested positive for a metabolite of mesterolone in an out-of-competition test conducted on September 8, 2025.

Asif admitted violating Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code and accepted the sanction under a Case Resolution Agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency and the ICC.

His period of ineligibility has been backdated to September 8, 2025 and will run until December 7, 2026.

Asif will be allowed to resume training with a team or use club facilities from October 8, but cannot return to competitive cricket until December 8.

The ICC said all of Asif’s individual results between September 8 and December 29, when his provisional suspension began, have been disqualified.

The disqualification includes the loss of any medals, points, prize money or prizes resulting from those performances.

Asif made his international debut for the UAE in 2022 and has played 38 one-day internationals and 56 Twenty20 internationals.
