South Africa Women will tour Zimbabwe for the first time next month, with the neighbours set to meet in their maiden bilateral T20I series.
Regular captain Laura Wolvaardt will lead the squad featuring three uncapped players — seamer Caitlin Wyngaard, former South Africa Under-19 star Nthabiseng Nini and off-spinner Luyanda Nzuza.
The 21-year-old Wyngaard earned her maiden call-up after impressing for South Africa Emerging Women during their recent tour of Bangladesh. Nini and Nzuza also caught the selectors’ eye with standout performances for the Emerging side.
The trio are joined by Faye Tunnicliffe, Anneke Bosch, Ayanda Hlubi, Eliz-Mari Marx, Seshnie Naidu, Nondumiso Shangase and Miané Smit, who all missed the recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
Wicketkeeper-batters Sinalo Jafta and Karabo Meso, along with all-rounders Kayla Reyneke and Annerie Dercksen, further strengthen the squad.
The five-match T20I series will be played from September 11 to 19 at Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo.
