Babar Sattar ranked seventh in PHC list

PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued a fresh seniority list of its judges following the transfer of Justice Babar Sattar from the Islamabad High Court.

The new list was notified by the Registrar of the PHC after approval from the court’s Administrative Committee, in line with its decision dated May 1.

According to the official notification, Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Atiq Shah continues to be the senior-most judge of the PHC, while Justice Ijaz Anwar remains the senior puisne judge. Justice Sattar, who recently joined the Peshawar High Court through transfer, has been placed at the seventh position in the revised seniority list.

The complete seniority list is as follows:

Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Atiq Shah (1), Justice Ijaz Anwar (2), Justice Syed Arshad Ali (3), Justice Sahibzada Asadullah (4), Justice Muhammad Naeem Anwar (5), Justice Waqar Ahmad (6), Justice Babar Sattar (7), Justice Kamran Hayat Miankhel (8), Justice Muhammad Ijaz Khan (9), Justice Muhammad Fahim Wali (10), Justice Khurshid Iqbal (11), Justice Tariq Afridi (12), Justice Abdul Fayyaz(13), Justice Farah Jamshed (14), Justice Inamullah Khan (15), Justice Sabitullah Khan (16), Justice Salahuddin (17), Justice Sadiq Ali Mohmand (18), Justice Mudassir Amir (19), Justice Aurangzeb (20), and Justice Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah (21).

This administrative update was necessitated after the arrival of Justice Sattar to properly determine the judicial hierarchy at the PHC.

Justice Sattar’s transfer to PHC along with Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani’s to Lahore High Court and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz transfer to the Sindh High Court was approved by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan on April 28

and notified by the law ministry on April 29 amid criticism from the lawyers’ bodies.
